The Year In Review

As I reflect on the last year or so….

  1. I'm infinitely grateful for the experiences and learnings.
  2. I'm achy and stronger.
  3. I'm unsatisfied and happy.
  4. I have more moments of joy…because I choose to.
  5. I'm unsettled and enjoy the variety.
  6. When I reflect on thoughts, it seems chaotic and crazy
  7. I desire more money, more passion, more juice with my life in general and specifically.
  8. I know that I'm doing the work.
  9. I know that each step reveals the next and often times I don't feel like taking that step.
  10. I'm infinitely grateful for each and every experience even if I had a temper tantrum in the moment.

There have been ups and downs and the net result is better than before.  I believe being unsettled and unsatisfied motivates me to "do with purpose" and also reminds me to savor the harmony.

I have a tremendous amount of experience in my short 43 years on this earth.  I have unique abilities that have been identified by a couple special people around me.

The greatest lesson I've learned…

My deepest desire is to continue to have those abilities and experiences leveraged.  For me, I'm a team player; a connector.  I LOVE it when I'm called into action for the benefit of the team.  I'm a man of service and energy is released when I'm called to serve a cause on a team.

There is nothing sadder for me than to work alone or be used.  Serving is different.  I feel the difference and my team feels the difference when unique abilities are engaged.  It's the breath of life….truly releasing infinite energy.

Today, I'm not in a place of deep fulfillment. I am in the process and open to a cause and team.  I know I have a purpose, even if I haven't realized it because I'm still getting up and still breathing!

I'm grateful.

Masterminding vs. Big Bloated Companies

NOW is the most critical time to come to together; to communicate; to collaborate; to contribute and make a difference in life.

Sorry Charlie, business isn't coming back.  It's going forward!

I recall what my silent and powerful friend, Greg Hartle, founder of the Financial Happiness Project has said AND witnessed again and again…smart business today is bringing talent together for a project.  When the mission is achieved, dismissing the team and repeating again on the next project.

Consider this:

  • It's good for the organizer whereby they benefit from the unique talents and experience of different people.
  • It's good for the bottom-line of the project whereby it leverages talent only for the time it takes to accomplish the mission.
  • It's good for the talent because it specifically leverages and celebrates the talent and experience they bring.  There is a deep fulfillment in being of service in a specific area that we genuinely like.
  • it's good for the talent's bottom-line from a financial perspective as well.  Look at this from the abundance perspective versus scarcity perspective.  "Oh my gosh where is my next gig?" vs. "People are calling on me because of my results on the last gig".

What's important here is to

a) believe that you have unique abilities and experience that will benefit others.

b) get some help uncovering those abilities.  If you're like the typical human then you have no clue what your unique abilities are.  Much like seeing that spot on your back from the same perspective another person will, you MUST have the detached perspective of another.

c) engaging with people that celebrate, champion and are an advocate for making best use of those unique abilities.

bottom line here is It will NOT happen alone!

It's part of the reason I chose to launch MastermindingNOW!

  1. To champion the power of Masterminding and the Mastermind Group
  2. To provide subject matter expertise in the area
  3. To inspire you to come together and quite simply…to START a conversation.

There are dozens of places to learn the mechanics of mastermind groups and just as many groups called "mastermind groups" paid and free.  The true key where the team at MastermindingNOW! excel is engaging "the 1+1=3 Way"; fostering a place of trust, authenticity, abundance and harmony where "magic moments" aren't elusive, they are guaranteed

I've played a part in the success of some amazing mastermind groups including "one of the most exclusive wealth retreats in the world".  I've collaborated quietly with group after group….in the background.  And more than anything else, it pissed me off that "mastermind magic" is so elusive to the majority of the population and it's there for the asking!

Several business owners and company leaders have consulted me to help them create, accelerate and leverage results through collaboration whether they are called mastermind groups, idea potlucks,  synergy groups, among others.

There is one common denominator with those that reach out. They believe in the sheer power of collaboration or as I call it, The 1+1=3 Way. They believe and have seen that 1+1=2 is old school, scarcity mentality crap.

The time has come to stand up and pass forward the knowledge, resources and soul of conscious collaboration.

It truly is time to move from the boring, time-wasting, posturing, mob scene meetings to masterful mastermind moments.

I'm proud to support you as you support conscious business and create mastermind magic moments.

As with anything in life, it's a work in progress and the only thing to do is START!

Risk. It’s Worth The Reward.

  • Maybe this is the day to stop waiting on finding  that perfect mastermind group and starting your own.
  • Maybe today is the day to say “yes” to that opportunity you’re not sure you can do.
  • Maybe today is the day that you earn your GSD degree.

Paul Jalbert, the founder of The Merlin Project gives a perspective on Risk.

Risk

It is said the second most common regret spoken by people in nursing homes is:
“I should have taken more risks.”

I don’t know about you, but I feel better about a risk I take that fails to deliver the experience
I am looking for, than I do about not taking a risk at all.

If you have little to lose in risking, go for it.  You have much more to lose in failing to risk.

Paul Jalbert, founder of The Merlin Project

Scott Harrison, founder of the organization charity: water, argues that the key to a successful charity is simplicity.

“You can all understand what we do up here in a sentence,” he explains, adding that it’s important to “show, rather than tell.”

Putting the “Service” back in Service Provider

You’ve heard it time and time again, “get specific, niche it d0wn, etc…”

Ok, I understand the meaning of being a specialist so it’s crystal clear to your target market and niche market what you do and who you serve.

So here is my question… What the heck is so wrong with being a service provider of service providers?

Where I’m going with this is when one is a service provider, provide service whether you DIRECTLY solve the problem or not.

For example, let’s say the owner of a restaurant meets a social media specialist and after an enthusiastic chat with a potential client, the restaurant owner determines that he would best be served by a full service public relations firm versus the social media specialist.  Instead of connecting the owner to a great resource, she moves on.

Isn’t it time for service providers to step up as connectors?

They don’t have to necessarily offer a connection product or service.

Want to earn more business? Solve more problems.

Hey, I’m the first to admit, monetizing isn’t my forte.  I DO know that solving problems certainly yields more opportunities.

What would it look like to let go of that ludicrous hyper-focusing and solve problems quickly when people come to you?

“Oh, but I don’t have the capacity to solve everyone’s problem?”  Why not look at it as sorting?

I personally, know that the more problems, challenges, and “wants”,  I hear from people I come across, I get faster and faster at sorting–that is picking up on which I refer out immediately, other solutions I broker and others I can directly solve.

I strongly feel that especially now we must resources around from those that “have” to those that “want” that resource, versus “this is what I do. Buy my stuff in this way”.

What’s your take on this?

Doing A 90 Day Blitz

“If you can’t measure it, you won’t change it”

I’ve heard that saying hundreds of times and never really “got” it to the degree I do now.  I can tell you that I absolutely know for a fact this works for me.

It truly doesn’t matter what I want to improve.  If I create a metric that measures progress toward or away from the change, it creates a drama-free, emotionally-unattached measurement of progress. A sorely needed tool for many of us visionaries and creative idea generators.

At the end of May, I chose to do another 90 day blitz–an intense, focused 90 days that stretches me.  My first was this winter and I got stunning results, so let’s do it again!

It all starts with laying out a few intentions I’d like manifested.  In other words, stuff I’d like to see happen!  One example from my actual 90 Day Life Blitz is “I am awake by 6am blissfully happy, full of energy, loving to exercise my body, feeling strong.”  Sure, I have a specific financial intention too along with other intentions that I want to make progress with this next 90 days.

I stack the deck in my favor by setting an intention and creating goals that support that intention being achieved.

It leaves the door open to alternate ways of making the intention a reality.  My INTENTION is what I want to happen and the goals are the things I absolutely CAN do.

Example Intention:

I am awake by 6am blissfully happy, full of energy, loving to exercise my body, feeling strong.

Goal:

Complete every day of the P90X Intense Exercise Workout.

Notice, that the goal is absolutely in my control.  I know that I make the rules, so why not set it up for success.

The fact is if the intention above is the goal, I really can’t just MAKE myself pop out of bed blissfully happy but I CAN do the things that cause that to be a reality.

What absolutely does NOT work for me is where there is allowance for failure from the start.

For example, let’s take a financial goal.  Say you’d like to bring in an extra $10,000 in the next 90 days.  If you’re like most people, you say “My intention is to bring in $10,000 in the next 90 days”, then you get busy, getting busy and then the date gets closer and you’re “Oh crap, how can I make that happen?”.

You start pounding the pavement, make phone calls, doing whatever you can and maybe you achieve, may you don’t.  I mean let’s be honest, it doesn’t matter whether it’s $1, $100, $10,000 or $1Mil, it still relies on someone else and that is something we aren’t able to control.

Why not set it up from the start:

A fresh perspective….

Intention:  Bring in an extra $10,000 in the next 90 days.

Goal:  To attend 20 in-person events with the purpose of networking, to make 20 sales presentations, to make 100 sales calls, etc…..

Now, I get busy doing those things I’ve proven that I can do and that I believe will lead to that intention manifesting into reality.  I tweak it weekly and of course have someone that helps hold me accountable.

Now, it’s your turn.  I’d genuinely like to know your intentions.  What would you like to see change in your life?  What is important enough that you’re willing to share?  Remember that we stand for collaboration around here.

The Mastermind Manifesto from Thomas Mangum

NOW is the most critical time I’ve ever seen to come to together; to communicate; to collaborate; to contribute and make a difference in life.

It will NOT happen alone!

There are dozens of places to learn the mechanics of mastermind groups and just as many groups called “mastermind groups” paid and free.  The true key where the team at MastermindingNOW! excel is engaging “the 1+1=3 Way“; fostering a place of trust, authenticity, abundance and harmony where “magic moments” aren’t elusive, they are guaranteed.

I’ve played a part in the success of some amazing mastermind groups including “one of the most exclusive wealth retreats in the world”.  I’ve collaborated quietly with group after group….in the background…until now!

I’ve entertained call after call as business owners and company leaders have consulted me to help them create, accelerate and leverage results through collaboration whether they are called mastermind groups, idea potlucks,  synergy groups, among others.

There is one common denominator with those that reach out. They believe in the sheer power of collaboration or as I call it, The 1+1=3 Way. They believe and have seen that 1+1=2 is old school, scarcity mentality crap.

And let me be crystal clear here.  It doesn’t matter whether you’re the CEO of Boeing, the Secretary of State, or an up and coming entrepreneur.  These principles are human and when you remember that which makes you human, possibility exists.  Where possibility exists, solutions happen in cooperation with collaborators.

The time has come to stand up and pass forward the knowledge, resources and soul of conscious collaboration.

MastermindingNOW! does NOT sell a bunch of products or services.  We sell SOLUTIONS!  We are the go-to source of collaboration and collaboration mastery.

Yes, it’s different.  Yes, it’s unusual.  Yes, it’s strange in today’s world of every business essentially copying each other and using the same models.

Are you REALLY looking for a fresh solution from another coaching or consulting company?

Do you expect to find an answer from the same old thing?

It truly is time to move from the boring, time-wasting, posturing, mob scene meetings to masterful mastermind moments.  It truly is time to move from the same old therapy-model coaching and consulting to granting wishes and manifesting solutions by collaborating NOW!

I’m proud to support you as you support conscious capitalism and create mastermind magic moments.  If you don’t “get it” or you aren’t curious, this is NOT FOR YOU.  You MUST know that you do your best work in collaboration with others and in the spirit of cooperation.

Code of Honor Mastermind

Accelerate The Results Of Your Team With A Code of Honor

Whether it’s your mastermind group, football team or your relationship, the performance and results it achieves will be largely dependent on “how tight you call the game”, as Blair Singer states in The ABCs of Building A Team That Wins.

It’s so strange that I’ve met so few people that use this key technique to dramatically change the construct of the game.  Personally, this is has moved a mastermind group from mediocre to magic moments.

The basic premise is to have a unifying “code” by which all on the team agree and commit to, no matter what.  At least SOMETHING that will unify agendas to carry the team through when the going gets tough and propel a good team to great results.

Perfection Kills

Results happen when you’re in the process, otherwise known as ACTION.

Perfection causes inaction and distraction.

And to be clear, I’m definitely speaking from my own personal experience.

Take the MastermindingNOW! company as an example.  It is a process of flying the plane and building the plane, as my friend Sharon Sayler likes to say.

It’s one of the very core differences I stand for that makes a HUGE difference in the mastermind formats I evangelize.

Get real. Get Raw. RIGHT NOW!  It will be perfect for the moment. Trust.

Several years ago, I would never have done such a thing, because it had to be perfect, right?  People would think me an amateur if it wasn’t all pretty and perfect.  Perhaps some people do believe that and what does it matter to those that have been waiting for just this resource.

My point is, please don’t wait.  Share your passion.  Do that which inspires you. Take the actions that you think may be imperfect.  It’s those consistent turtle steps that yield the results.

Does this resonate?  Share by posting a comment or sending it to someone you care about.

You see, I need you and you need me, because I know for a fact that we create more together than we can alone and as far as I know I have a very short blip on the universal timeline to make use of what I’m given.  What about you?
